Books that teach you how to
read India.

Read India Press publishes the How to Read India series — nine books that give readers the interpretive tools to understand one of the world's oldest and most complex civilisations, one dimension at a time.

"India cannot be understood through any single lens. The How to Read India series teaches you how to interpret the subcontinent — its terrain, its mind and body, its literature, its cuisines, its history, its architecture, its languages, and its religions — as a unified civilisational text."

Deepak Prasher · Series Author · Emeritus Professor, UCL
The How to Read India Series

Nine books.
One civilisation.

Each book in the series is an interpretive key to one dimension of India's extraordinary diversity — showing how that dimension shapes, and is shaped by, all the others. The series can be read in any order; each book is complete in itself.

Companion Apps

Every book has a
digital companion.

Each published title in the How to Read India series is accompanied by an AI-powered companion app that extends the book's methodology beyond the printed page — allowing readers to apply the interpretive framework to their own journeys, questions, and reading lives.

Cultural Landscapes

Enter any Indian city or journey and receive a reading of its terrain, pilgrimage routes, food and GI products, art and architecture, language and history, and forests and wildlife.

The Harmony Within

Dosha and Klesha assessment, daily practice tracker, personalised Ayurvedic and Yogic protocols, and progress visualisation across the five dimensions of wellbeing.

Life Lessons from Indian Literature

Explore all 42 works, follow thematic threads across centuries, bring a life situation and find the works that speak to it, or apply the book's methodology to any work you have read.

Six more companion apps in development

Each forthcoming title in the series will have its own AI-powered companion at publication.
